Take Care of Your Body…

Today people tend to focus a lot of their lives on spirituality while they neglect their physical bodies. Others tend to focus on how good their physical bodies are put together and spend less time on their spiritual growth and maturity. Some don’t improve on either one. This does not  show a balance for this person. The bible tells us that both of these are needed in 1 Timothy 4:8:

“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

Notice how it says that exercise is of value. However it sets the priorities straight by saying Godliness is of greater value. Godliness profits the well-being of the entire person, body, soul, and spirit. Bodily exercise only covers one of the bases. This verse is also an example of how one can profit through dedication, which goes back to everything else in life.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 also tells us to NOT NEGLECT our physical bodies:

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

However, you are not just supposed to take care of your body just so others would notice and maybe even admire you. Dont let vanity be attached to your exercise, but do make it a priority to be in good physical health.
