What Will You Achieve in 2010???

What Will You Achieve in 2010???

It seems as if everyone intends to get fitter or improve some type of performance in the New Year. But to be honest, we all know that by the time the year ends, we will not have achieved much. So why is it this way?

After days, weeks, or a few months, we all usually go back to our old ways and how we were. Then we will look back and say, “I gave up because I was too busy.” We always find an excuse. Blaming ourselves and busy schedules when most of us just have really bad time management.

This may surprise you but I’ve learned that most of the time we fall back, it may not have been our fault. Most of the time when we fail to reach our goals, it is because we have made them too difficult to achieve. We fail to reach our personal goals because they are too time-consuming, inconvenient, or ambitious. The new plan always looks good at first, but when it becomes obvious how much you have to put into it, the motivation goes away.

This is no one’s fault because our time is limited and we can’t get any of it back or create any more.  We all want more, but time waits for no one.

So let’s work on managing the little time that we do have and make the best of it. We can do this by eliminating “black holes” or wasted time doing things like watching television or just getting too much extra sleep.

This year I want to not only get physically fit, but spiritually and financially fit as well. Let’s GET IT!!!

Are You Part of the 95%???

Today I heard a very interesting statistic.

There is a stat that says more than 95% of all the people who lose weight with diet and exercise, gain that weight back. John Berardi’s opinion is that it’s because 95% of all people have the wrong idea about how to initiate change. Especially when it’s their bodies they want to change. In fact, they do things backwards. I can agree with this. I think people need to stop dieting and actually change their lifestyles.

Today, Berardi shared his top strategy for making sure that we are not part of that 95%. John Berardi has formed something called the Lean Eating Method. He says “if you’re not using it, you’re missing out on one of the most effective strategies available today for changing your body.”

Take Care of Your Body…

Today people tend to focus a lot of their lives on spirituality while they neglect their physical bodies. Others tend to focus on how good their physical bodies are put together and spend less time on their spiritual growth and maturity. Some don’t improve on either one. This does not  show a balance for this person. The bible tells us that both of these are needed in 1 Timothy 4:8:

“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

Notice how it says that exercise is of value. However it sets the priorities straight by saying Godliness is of greater value. Godliness profits the well-being of the entire person, body, soul, and spirit. Bodily exercise only covers one of the bases. This verse is also an example of how one can profit through dedication, which goes back to everything else in life.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 also tells us to NOT NEGLECT our physical bodies:

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

However, you are not just supposed to take care of your body just so others would notice and maybe even admire you. Dont let vanity be attached to your exercise, but do make it a priority to be in good physical health.
